Set it up
Four attackers play near the outside against two defenders inside. Keep spare balls nearby.
How to play
Maintain possession using outside support. A pass between defenders is an option only when the lane is open. Rotate defenders together every 60–90 seconds.
Make it easier
Begin 4v1 or enlarge the square.
Add a challenge
Award a bonus for a successful split followed by a controlled next pass.
What to watch for
Players force the bonus pass. Reward keeping the ball when the defenders close the middle.
Take it into a game
Finish with a short small-sided game and look for the same passing decision without the activity’s extra conditions. Ask a player to describe one moment when it helped. Keep the next round simple if the skill disappears under pressure.
KEEP IT SIMPLELook for space. Keep the ball within reach.
