Set it up
An attacker passes to a supporting player beside the target. Keep waiting players outside the shooting lane.
How to play
The support sets a ground pass back into the attacker’s path. The attacker takes a useful first touch and finishes. Rotate the support frequently.
Make it easier
Allow the attacker to stop the set pass first.
Add a challenge
Add a trailing defender who starts after the set pass.
What to watch for
The set pass arrives under the shooter. Ask the support to place it ahead at a speed the attacker can manage.
Take it into a game
Finish with a short small-sided game and look for the same finishing decision without the activity’s extra conditions. Ask a player to describe one moment when it helped. Keep the next round simple if the skill disappears under pressure.
KEEP IT SIMPLELook for space. Keep the ball within reach.
