| Players | 2–10 |
|---|---|
| Starting space | Two gates behind a receiver; server 6 yards away |
| Suggested time | 6–10 minutes, including short breaks |
| Equipment | Balls, flat cones, bibs when teams are used |
Set it up
A receiver stands between two angled gates. A partner serves a gentle ground pass from in front.
How to play
Check the space, receive with a touch toward one gate, and dribble through it. Return the ball and alternate sides before changing roles.
Make it easier
Use wider gates and a slower pass.
Add a challenge
The server signals one closed gate just before passing.
What to watch for
The first touch stops under the receiver’s body. Ask for a reachable touch into the direction they intend to travel.
Take it into a game
Finish with a short small-sided game and look for the same receiving decision without the activity’s extra conditions. Ask a player to describe one moment when it helped. Keep the next round simple if the skill disappears under pressure.
KEEP IT SIMPLELook for space. Keep the ball within reach.
