Set it up
Place two small scoring gates on the defender’s end line. The attacker starts centrally with the ball.
How to play
The attacker scores by dribbling through either gate under control. If the defender wins the ball, they counter over the opposite line. Switch roles after each attempt.
Make it easier
Start the defender farther away or widen the gates.
Add a challenge
Narrow the gates and begin from a pass instead of a stationary ball.
What to watch for
Attackers decide on a gate too early. Encourage watching the defender and changing direction when the other gate opens.
Take it into a game
Finish with a short small-sided game and look for the same dribbling decision without the activity’s extra conditions. Ask a player to describe one moment when it helped. Keep the next round simple if the skill disappears under pressure.
KEEP IT SIMPLELook for space. Keep the ball within reach.
