Set it up
The attacker dribbles toward a far cone. A defender follows from three yards behind at a controlled speed.
How to play
Before reaching the cone, the attacker turns toward either side exit. The defender tries to win the ball cleanly. Change roles after each run.
Make it easier
Increase the defender’s starting distance.
Add a challenge
Let the defender start closer and vary which side they approach.
What to watch for
The attacker turns into the defender’s path. Ask which shoulder feels pressure and turn toward the available space.
Take it into a game
Finish with a short small-sided game and look for the same dribbling decision without the activity’s extra conditions. Ask a player to describe one moment when it helped. Keep the next round simple if the skill disappears under pressure.
KEEP IT SIMPLELook for space. Keep the ball within reach.
