Set it up
Three attackers keep possession against two defenders. Rotate the extra-player advantage between groups.
How to play
Attackers try to connect five passes while using the spare teammate. When defenders win it, they aim to dribble over an end line before the attackers recover.
Make it easier
Increase the space or start 3v1.
Add a challenge
Reduce the area slightly once the spare player is found consistently.
What to watch for
The spare player stands behind pressure. Ask them to move into a lane the ball carrier can use.
Take it into a game
Finish with a short small-sided game and look for the same teamwork decision without the activity’s extra conditions. Ask a player to describe one moment when it helped. Keep the next round simple if the skill disappears under pressure.
KEEP IT SIMPLELook for space. Keep the ball within reach.
