| Players | 4–12 |
|---|---|
| Starting space | 18 × 18 yards; four colored gates |
| Suggested time | 6–10 minutes, including short breaks |
| Equipment | Balls, flat cones, bibs when teams are used |
Set it up
Players each have a ball. Place colored gates around the outside, with enough space for more than one approach.
How to play
Show a colored cone and let players locate that gate before traveling toward it. They finish with a controlled stop nearby, then spread out again.
Make it easier
Say the color while showing it.
Add a challenge
Show two colors and let each player choose the less crowded gate.
What to watch for
Everyone converges at full speed. Ask players to slow down near gates and choose a clear approach.
Take it into a game
Finish with a short small-sided game and look for the same scanning decision without the activity’s extra conditions. Ask a player to describe one moment when it helped. Keep the next round simple if the skill disappears under pressure.
KEEP IT SIMPLELook for space. Keep the ball within reach.
